2022 BABS Game Plan Preview
Welcome to the 2022 BABS Game Plan series. This is the Preview Installment to help you get a head start (via Trea Turner’s airborne, head-first slide) on the mega-content that begins shortly and extends over the draft season, however long that might take in real time.
Normally, the Game Plan is four updates — two in February and two in March. The current CBA negotiations may impact that if there is a delay to the start of spring training and/or the regular season. For now, we are expecting to publish normally on February 10 and 24, and then decide on subsequent scheduling.
This four-part publication calendar provides you with intensive, comprehensive content so you can make the best use of the BABS system. We’ve been likening it to moving from network TV (where you have to wait for content according to their schedule) to a Netflix model (where we publish it all at once and you can binge-read). Opening Day is March 31 this year. We hope.
This is where you will find your BABS DASHBOARD, beginning on February 10. Links to all active content will be here.

It all starts here, with The BABS Project 3.1. It’s your FREE reference tool. (All are PDF files.) For our BABS veterans, please review our new Liability scoring system in Book 2.

BABS Database
We’re still putting the finishing touches on the first publication of the database. There are still a few data issues to iron out, including position eligibilities, some injury designations and some playing time anomalies. In the interim, you can still run historical reports for overall rankings and individual players. We will officially launch on February 10.
For BABS veterans, you should know your way around, but here is a new tutorial on how to analyze the player history scans*. For newbies, here is the Report Key* and a blank roster grid*, but the heavy duty analysis to help you navigate better will begin on February 10.
BABS Master Spreadsheet
We’re still fine-tuning the ratings and rankings here as well. The links above for the Report Key and roster grid apply here as well. Launch date is February 10.
Risk Analysis
We have a new focus on risk analysis this year, highlighted by a revised methodology for handling liabilities. Here is a description of BABS’ new take on risk*.
Minor League Analysis
Another area of increased focus this year will be on minor league analysis. For starters, we’ve assembled the last four years of Major League Equivalent BABS ratings in one place.
The FISH List
This popular new draft sheet integrates the BABS ratings and the marketplace into a list that provides the optimal rounds to target players. Here is a description*. The live list will launch on February 10.
