FAQ
What does the BABS Draft Game Plan buy me?
It starts with a free copy of “The BABS Project 3.0,” a 100+ page PDF publication that describes the concept of the Broad Assessment Balance Sheet (BABS), which drives the fantasy content on the site. The Game Plan reports then give you access to downloadable data files, the BABS player database, cheat sheets, and more for the upcoming draft season.
There is a lot here. Where do I start?
Best to start with perusing “The BABS Project 3.0” eBook, which is accessible from the home page. The reports and cheat sheets generated by the database and the master spreadsheet will look wrong to you without a basic understanding of how BABS works. Chapters 1, 2 and 3 go into the philosophy of why we need BABS, then the rest of the book gets into the nuts and bolts. Yes, it will take a little time to get up to speed. Guaranteed it is worth the effort.
How often do you post new content?
There is one set of reports that is posted in January, then updated in February and March.
Do you publish content all season long?
Research has shown that the Broad Assessment Balance Sheet’s greatest value is derived from long-view analysis, so we have positioned it exclusively as a draft prep tool. All of our content is published in the first three months of the year. We do a final database update at the end of the season.
Can BABS help me in my league?
The short answer is yes. While much of the content and promotional material tends to focus on Rotisserie draft leagues, BABS works for just about any format since the system is primarily skills-based. Auction leagues? Yes. Points leagues? Yes. Head-to-head? Yes. Sim leagues? Yes. Book 3 of “The BABS Project 3.0” includes chapters specifically geared to molding BABS to fit your league’s needs.
My overall take is that it BABS is TOO COMPLICATED for the average fantasy baseball devotee. I’ll have to stick to the more straightforward information.
BABS is not complicated at all. Some of our readers share the reasons why BABS is about the simplest, most intuitive system available.
How do I purchase the BABS Draft Game Plan report and have access to the eBook?
You can purchase the reports HERE.
Can I see some sample content?
The best view of sample content is just to read the eBook. It’s free and provides the caliber of content reflected in the BABSbaseball.com draft materials, and includes sample cheat sheets. We also include a handful of free links in each update.
How do I update my credit card?
All memberships are processed through PayPal.com. You can maintain your payment information on that website.
ADDITIONAL FAQ ABOUT THE NEW FORMAT
My membership used to be renewed automatically each year. Has that stopped?
Yes. We have discontinued auto-renewals and the subscription service. You can now purchase individual reports during the pre-draft season.
What will happen to my subscription? If you have a current subscription, it will continue to run until your expiration date. You will be able to access any of the reports published during the term of your subscription and will receive an email prior to each update with a link to access the reports. Once your subscription expires, you will have to purchase any reports that are published afterwards. Make sure you read our emails — they will contain important information about how to access each report.
We’ve tried to redirect subscribers away from the old subscription option but some of you have still found a way to resubscribe. Those subscriptions will expire on December 31, 2024 regardless of the date that appears on your account.
I have an active subscription but I did not receive an email with instructions. Check your expiration date here. If it is past your expiration date, purchase the current report. If it is still within your expiration date, contact us here.
How will I access these reports? When you purchase the individual updates, you will receive a PDF file with a link to the page containing all the reports. If you are on a subscription, you will receive an email with the link when the update is published. Again, make sure you read our emails to have access to these reports.
It sounds like there will be only three updates instead of four? Yes, that’s correct. We found that there were rarely any changes of note between the late February and early March updates, so we’ve essentially eliminated the early March update and moved the late March report up a week.
Will I be able to purchase all three reports at a package rate? Unfortunately, no. You can reasonably purchase one report and get everything you need. Each subsequent report just updates any interim changes.
Will I still be able to get the BABS ratings in RotoLab? Yes. However, there will only be three updates instead of four.
Will there be any minor league coverage? None specifically. BABS needs a lot of good data in order to provide usable ratings, and even Major League Equivalent stats are not deep enough to be reliable. Minor league skills are incorporated into the regular ratings, which is what you’ll need for drafting purposes anyway.
Will there be any strategy articles? No. Each year’s strategy pieces tended to repeat the tactics outlined in The BABS Project ebook, just with new players. Our new array of reports will help you target players yourself, and you can always look back at past articles for tips on implementation.
